Key facts about your baby this week
- Your baby is now around the size of an onion and measures about 13cm (5 inches) in length. Her weight is now close to 150 grams
- Sweat glands are forming and the skin is still very thin and transparent
- Body fat is accumulating around the skeleton and will continue to, until the end of your pregnancy – this fat is very important for your baby’s body heat generation and energy.
- Your baby is starting to hear sounds outside your body, and some may even make it jump.
What’s happening with you
- You might see a few extra pounds accumulating around your waistline this week, and you may start to see some changes happening to your skin
- Hormones and milk producing glands are developing and these, with the increased blood flow, are making your breasts bigger.
- Your body is still also producing extra pigment now which can cause dark spots to develop on your face or linea nigra, running from your navel down your abdomen.
- You might feel an increase in your sex drive!
