Key facts about your baby

  • Your baby is about 30cm now and roughly the size of a large mango.
  • Your baby is squirming and kicking more now, a little harder than last week.
  • Your baby can grasp her umbilical cord, ear, and may even grab hold of her other hand.
  • Your baby’s heartbeat can now be heard through a normal stethoscope.
  • You may be surprised to discover that your baby is totally used to familiar sounds in the home or environment

What’s happening with you

  • You could start to have some swelling in your ankles and your feet. Swelling is more likely to occur when the weather is warm, after you have been on your feet for long periods of time, or at the end of the day. Circulation is slower now that you have gained weight, and your blood chemistry has changed. This leads to water retention, or edema.
  • Previous symptoms may persist which include tiredness, stretchmarks, piles, nosebleeds, swollen hands and feet, indigestion, bloating, hyper-pigmentation on some parts of the skin
