Key facts about about your baby

  • Your baby is now around the size of a blueberry, or about 1/3 cm (1.2 inch of inch
  • Arms and legs are becoming more obvious as joints start to form, but fingers and toes have yet to sprout.
  • At 7 weeks, the tissue that forms the genitals (the genital tubercle) is present now, though you won’t be able to tell the sex on a scan yet.
  • Dark spots mark the areas where her eyes and nostrils will be, and ears are starting to form, too.
  • Small blood veins can now be seen through the skin, which is almost translucent at this point..
  • Red blood cells are being produced by the liver for now (this will stop once your baby has bone marrow which will then take over making red blood cells).

What’s happening with you

  • Your uterus is now twice as large as it was before pregnancy and your body now carries around 10 percent more blood than it did prior to becoming pregnant. This can cause you to urinate more frequently now.
  • You may still be experiencing morning sickness
