Congrats you are pregnant.!!

Key facts about your baby

  • The fertilized egg, will move through the fallopian tube and implant in the uterus, a couple of days before the expected next menstrual period.
  • At 4 weeks, right after implantation, the baby is the size of a poppy seed and is known as an embryo.
  • Your baby gets his/her energy and nourishment from a yolk sac, until the placenta takes over.
  • The embryo splits into three different sections with the brain and central nervous system already beginning to take shape as their neural tubes develop. In the other two sections, the heart and circulatory system are already beginning to form and the lungs and intestines are in the very early stages of development.

Whats happening to you?

  • You might have some implantation bleeding where the embryo implanted in the uterine lining, mistaking this for your period, though not all women experience this.
  • You just missed your period and have just confirmed this with a positive pregnancy test.
  • Fatigue, soreness of the breast tissue and mood swings are all common at this time, though very similar to PMS symptoms so you might think its related to your period.
