Key facts about your baby
- Your baby now weighs close to 3.2 kg (7 pounds) and measures from 50cm (19 to 21 inches) in length.
- Your baby is still mostly stretching and wriggling , rather than kicking as he/she’s running out of space.
- Your baby is ready for outside life and his/her brain is functioning better everyday.
- The circumference of the head and the baby’s abdomen should be about the same size.
- Your baby’s intestines should now have lots of meconium which should be passed immediately after birth.
What’s happening with you
- Use this time to do the tasks you may not get around to for a while after your baby’s born.
- Contractions may last longer and feel more uncomfortable and you might also notice an increase in vaginal discharge.
- Stay active if you can to prepare for labor and even though you may not be in the mood, it’s worthwhile to have sex to help prepare for labor.
- Your water could break anytime from now, if it hasn’t already. It could be sudden gush of water or a trickle running down your leg.
