- There’s around a litre of amniotic fluid surrounding the baby, but this will decrease as they continue to grow into the final weeks.
- The white, greasy substance on your baby’s skin, called ‘vernix’, and their fine fur, or ‘lanugo’, starts to disappear from now.
- Your baby’s five senses are now functional.
What’s happening with you
- You are likely feeling more tired and a bit fed up as baby disrupts your sleep
- You may be having difficulty breathing as your uterus expands into your diaphragm
- You are also more likely to get UTIs
- Symptoms you have been experiencing form previous weeks may persist.
- As your skin expands to accommodate your baby, you may experience itchy skin which can be relieved by antihistamine/ointments prescribed by your doctor.
