  • Your baby’s weight is now close to that of a cabbage 760g and measures 35.6cm (head to heel) (length of forearm)
  • Your baby’s eyes will also start to open at 26 weeks and could have started blinking.
  • Your baby will settle into a distinct sleep-wake pattern by 26 weeks.
  • If you’re having a boy their testicles are beginning to descend into the scrotum and for a girl, the ovaries are getting in place
  • Your baby should be able to respond to certain noises with increased movement or move at the sound of your voice.

What’s happening with you

  • You may be having increased back ache from pressure of the uterus. Ensure you do not lift heavy objects or bend over too much. You can try warm baths or use warm or cool compresses, depending on your preference, to relieve the pain.
  • Previous symptoms may persist which include tiredness, stretchmarks, piles, nosebleeds, swollen hands and feet, indigestion, bloating.
  • You may have started experiencing Braxton-Hicks contractions, though they are more common in third trimester. However you need to watch out for real contractions a sit could be a sign of preterm labour. If they become more frequent, make sure you contact your doctor ASAP
