Key facts about your baby
- Your baby is now around the size of a papaya measuring between 26cm and 30cm (10.5 to 12 inches) and weighing about 450g).
- Fine hairs still cover the body to help keep your baby warm before fat starts taking over.
- You would see that your baby’s skin is quite wrinkled at this point but this should fill in a she/she gains weight.
- The folds of your baby’s lungs are beginning to separate. Imagine a rose bud opening, though will not mature until towards the end of pregnancy
What’s happening with you
- At 22 weeks of pregnancy, you are showing quite a bit now.
- You may notice that you are now getting some stretch marks around your abdomen, buttocks, thighs, or breasts as your weight increases
- Your breasts may begin to leak colostrum. Don’t panic, this is not unusual.
- Previous symptoms may persist which include tiredness, stretchmarks, piles, nosebleeds, swollen hands and feet, indigestion, bloating.
