1 Week Pregnant

You know actually you aren’t pregnant now right? Your journey through pregnancy starts now. Healthcare experts calculate length of pregnancy as 40 weeks from the first date of your last period, so just for the sake of calculation , the first 2 weeks are already part of your pregnancy, even though you haven’t conceived yet!

2 Weeks Pregnant

At two weeks pregnant, (or not ), you are probably about to ovulate and your uterine lining is thickening because of the possibility that an egg would be fertilised and implant itself.

Depending on the length of the cycle, most women ovulate between day 11 and 21. Once an ovary releases a mature egg, there is only a 12 to 36 hour window for it to be fertilized, but since sperm can live up to five days in a woman’s body, having unprotected sex 3-5 days before you ovulate could result in pregnancy.

So at the end of this week, if you have sex, conception can take place. Then this could be the actual start of your pregnancy journey even though you are already 2 weeks pregnant.!

3 Weeks Pregnant

At this stage, your fertilised egg will then move down the Fallopian tube, towards the uterus and then implant itself going into week 4. The egg and sperm’s respective 23 chromosomes combine for a total of 46 and the combination of these cells is called a zygote. The baby’s sex is also determined at the time of fertilisation When the mother’s X chromosome fuses with the father’s X or Y chromosome, the combination of the two fixes the baby’s sex. So, an XX combination will result in a girl, and an XY combination will result in a boy.

You may also experience implantation bleeding when it attaches itself. You are now officially pregnant and all that’s left is to confirm with a pregnancy test. Congrats!
